Type II diabetes is generally thought as diabetes. 7.8% of American has diabetes (American Diabetes Association). The complications are heart disease, stroke, blindness, nerve damage, and kidney damage (American Diabetes Association). Fatal complications are heart disease and kidney damage. 2 out of 3 people with diabetes die from heart disease and stroke (American Diabetes Association). 2. Heart disease. The blood vessels in the heart are clogged. The heart can't work well by lack of blood supply (nutrition). It is generally known as heart attack. You bet this is fatal. 3. Stroke. The blood vessels in the brain are clogged. The brain can't get nutrition from the blood vessels, and work well. The body parts which the brain area controls are damaged. The complications are paralysis, numbness, pneumonia, speech loss, vision loss and so forth. If brain stem is damaged, coma or death possibly occurs. 4. Hypertension is known as high blood pressure in general. The complications are heart failure, heart attack, stroke, eye damage, and kidney damage. 5. Osteoarthritis in knees occurs as a result of overweight. It causes deformity, pain, and limping. Severe osteoarthritis of the knees is one of the most common reasons for total knee replacement in the United States. 6. Sleep apnea is a common disorder in which you have pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while you sleep. This results in poor sleep quality. It makes you tired during the day and excessive daytime sleepiness. 7. Severe obesity causes breathing problems aside from sleep apnea. 8. High cholesterol is a high risk factor of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other health problems. 9. Obesity is a high risk factor of gallbladder disease. The most common symptom is periodic pain in the pit of stomach frequently radiating to the back accompanied by nausea and sometimes vomiting. 10. The reason of high cancer incidents in obese people is unknown. 11. Obesity is a high risk factor of absent periods. 12. Urinary incontinence (inability to control the flow of urine) is recognized in millions of Americans. Women are twice as likely as men. Obesity is one of risk factors. 13 & 14. Obesity causes social discrimination, low self-esteem, and even suicide. 15. This is a kind of surprise. Researchers in the US found that your risk of dementia increases by 35% if you are overweight. Obese people in their 40s are 74% more likely to develop dementia than people of normal weight. The Kaiser Permanente Medical Foundation funded by National Institute of Health(NIH) studies over 10,000 men and women, aged between 40 and 45 years for average 27 years. The researchers eliminated the influence of heart disease, diabetes, and other condition when they considered obesity as a cause of dementia. It could be that fat has a direct effect on the neurons, cells in the brain, and causes damage and destruction. 16. Many women have problem to conceive babies because of no ovulation. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a disease of hormone imbalances which causes excessive facial and body hair, thinning hair on the skull, severe acne, irregular periods, diabetes.
