Diseases Causing Weight Gain
Before you start your diet and exercise, you should know there are some diseases causing weight gain which can't be controlled by diet and exercise. You should see a doctor if you have symptoms of these diseases below. There are two major diseases which cause weight gain. One is Hypothyroidism. Another one is Cushing's syndrome. They are hormonal diseases. Hypothyroidism is caused by shortage of hormone called "thyroid hormone." Cushing's syndrome is caused by excess hormone called "cortisol." Hypothyroidism is more common medical condition than you think. The number one cause of the disease is previous inflammation of the thyroid. The symptoms are fatigue, weakness, coarse & dry hair, hair loss, cold intolerance (you can't tolerate cold temperature), muscle cramps, frequent muscle aches, constipation, depression, irritability, memory loss, abnormal menstrual cycles, and decreased libido. People having Cushing's syndrome show upper body obesity, a fatty hump between the shoulders, round faces, increased fat around necks, and relatively slender arms and legs. They also have skin which is fragile, thin, and easily bruised & healed poorly. Women with this disease have excess hair growth on their face, neck, chest, abdomen, and thighs. Their menstrual periods are irregular or stop. Patients with this disorder also show signs including severe fatigue, weak muscles, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, increased thirst and urination, irritability, anxiety, or depression. The major cause is a side effect of medications containing steroid hormones called glucocorticoids. People having asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus take this medication. Doctors should tell them the side effects. If you don't take any medications, over-the-counter pills, or herbs and show these signs, you should see a doctor. Because brain tumors, adrenal tumors, other tumors also cause this disorder. But the incidence is rare. If you exclude these diseases, you are worthwhile going ahead to fellow my tips. Attention! If you feel like eating a lot (especially sweets), drink a lot of liquid, and wake up more than once at night to urinate, you should see a doctor immediately because you may already have "diabetes."
